Happy Saturday! Today was long run day for me, 9 miles done! It was a nice temperature but the wind started picking up the last 4 miles. We still managed to pull out a 10:32 average pace for 9 miles!
Hoping to hit the gym sometime today for just weights.
Are you participating in Too Hot to Handle this month? We have a new exercise this week for you. We are working on getting those Love Handles in check this month, join us any time!
This week’s exercise is Russian Twists coming to you from Sara at She Cooks, She Crafts, She Runs. See the challenge here. Give me a shout and let me know if you are participating. I’ve been able to hold my feet off the ground while doing these for 1 minute so I’ll be working on getting to at least 2 minutes by the end of the week. You can do these without weights as well. Don’t forget to use the hashtag #thth and tag me @howmyworldruns on Twitter and Instagram!
We have a fun Valentine’s giveaway to announce tomorrow! Have a great Saturday!
It’s been a while since I’ve had a WIAW post. January’s challenge needed my full attention!
Breakfast was a Bagel Thin, with Peanut Butter and Banana. Do you take vitamins? Which ones?
After I dropped Ally off at school I hit the gym for some cardio and weights! Got in a 50 minute workout including planks and V-ups!
Post gym snack was an apple. It tasted soooo good! I was hungry when I left the gym and very proud of myself for not getting a pretzel at Target. They have become my new craving!
For lunch I made my taco soup. It’s so easy, but a little high in sodium because it’s canned items. I use 2 cans Pinto Beans, 1 can Ranch Style, frozen corn, 1 can of Ro-Tel, taco seasoning if you want and ground beef or chicken. Today was ground beef. You can add tortilla strips, avocado, cheese, whatever you’d like to dress it up!
Dinner was oven baked chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes are homemade so I control the milk and butter that goes in it.
Today was errands and laundry day! I’m shopping for a new vacuum since my sweet Molly chewed the plug off mine last week.
Yesterday I got in 80 V-Ups. Today’s goal is 100!!
The winner of the Mizuno Wave Rider 16’s is Blanca Cisneros!! Congratulations and you should receive an email from me today!
How are you doing on the Too Hot to Handle challenge? We are working on getting those love handles in check! Join us anytime. There’s a new exercise each week.
I am a little sore today after yesterday’s run. I will be stretching and going for a short recovery run today. I got an awesome package in the mail from ProCompression! Shout out to Healthy Running Mom for hosting the giveaway, I won a pair of socks!
We ran into Half Price Books and I found a book to read. Maybe I will learn something and pass on my newfound information to you guys! Anyone read this one yet?
And we also have another winner!! The Handful giveaway ended last night, the winner is….Sarah Gabriel! Watch for an email from me. Congratulations!!
We still have several more giveaways going on, don’t miss out!
Who is participating in Too Hot to Handle? Did you do your V-ups today?
I haven’t run this far since October 27, 2012 when I did 13.1 in California! It’s been a battle since then with injuries but I’m coming back strong! It felt so good to get 12 miles today. It was slower than my “usual” pace but these days a run is a run, no matter the pace!
We ran some hills and I watched my heart climb to 188! WOW! Next week we taper back down to get ready for race day on February 24!
Are you joining the February challenge, Too Hot to Handle? Let’s get those love handles in check this month! Here’s the post about it. There’s also a page dedicated to the challenge.
We have a winner for our first grand prize from Allied Medal Displays ~ congratulations Leslie Alcala! Watch for an email from me.
Don’t forget the rest of the #30DayHomies grand prizes are still going on, there was a new one announced every day last week. Check the page for all the posts. The next one ends tonight at 11:59PM CST. Don’t miss out!
Are you Too Hot to Handle? Join our February challenge to get those love handles in check!
February’s challenge is brought to you in conjunction with Shelly at RunningPfuhl and Sara at She Cooks, She Crafts, She Runs. Each week there will be a new exercise to master with several levels to fit everyone’s needs. You can always adjust the challenge to your level.
Week 1 runs from February 1-7 and is brought to you by RunningPfuhl, check her post here for this weeks challenge. I encourage you to weigh and measure yourself at the beginning and the end to see your results.
Challenges are about setting goals and meeting them, weekly goals are easier to obtain than monthly and yearly goals. Breaking them up to something attainable will keep you motivated! Choose your goal:
Pound the pavement with weekly mileage goals
Completing 100 reps of the exercise, daily or by week’s end
I’ll be hitting the gum tonight for cardio and weights. Tomorrow is 12 miles!
This is it! Did you stick with us the whole month? I hope you are seeing the results of your hard work.
So, now what? Well, hopefully you started something you are ready to continue! I love that I tried new stuff I tried this month!
Pull up machine at the gym
Yogurt (baby steps!)
If you weighed and measured at the beginning of January you should weigh and measure in the next few days. Feel free to share your progress! I measured this morning and I think everything was the same. But that’s just a guess since I deleted an email account from my phone it deleted the notes attached to it. I will weigh in the morning.
Yesterday I didn’t make it to the gym, had to take little Molly to the vet and it was early release from school. I did however do some spring cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, dishes and scrubbing bath tubs is a work out, right? I got over 5,000 steps on my Fitbug.
We still have Swiftwick socks to give away, 6 more pair size small (shoe size 5-7.5). Click on the Rafflecopter link below to enter to win a pair! Ends Monday night at 11:59PM.

It’s Day 29! My first day back to 5@5 (5 miles at 5AM). Haven’t been in so long, it was great to be back! It was a lovely 68 degrees and humid this morning (I think 200% humidity!) It made for a tough run but it’s done!
Monday was most definitely a rest day for me, my legs were so tired. But after burning 1800 calories this weekend I think a rest day was in order.
Are you excited to hear what our next grand prize is?
