#30DayHomies Day 31!!

This is it! Did you stick with us the whole month? I hope you are seeing the results of your hard work.

So, now what? Well, hopefully you started something you are ready to continue! I love that I tried new stuff I tried this month!

  • Yoga
  • Pull up machine at the gym
  • Stair master
  • Spin class
  • Yogurt (baby steps!)

If you weighed and measured at the beginning of January you should weigh and measure in the next few days. Feel free to share your progress! I measured this morning and I think everything was the same. But that’s just a guess since I deleted an email account from my phone it deleted the notes attached to it. I will weigh in the morning.

Yesterday I didn’t make it to the gym, had to take little Molly to the vet and it was early release from school. I did however do some spring cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, dishes and scrubbing bath tubs is a work out, right? I got over 5,000 steps on my Fitbug.

#30dayHomies Day 29!

It’s Day 29! My first day back to 5@5 (5 miles at 5AM). Haven’t been in so long, it was great to be back! It was a lovely 68 degrees and humid this morning (I think 200% humidity!) It made for a tough run but it’s done!


Monday was most definitely a rest day for me, my legs were so tired. But after burning 1800 calories this weekend I think a rest day was in order.

#30DayHomies Day 27

Sorry I’m so late today! I’ve been working with Sara on the plans for this week. You will want to pay attention daily for the grand prizes to be announced!

In the spirit of the challenge I’ve been trying new stuff some this month. Started with getting on the dreaded stair master, it’s not as bad as it was the first few times, gotta keep at it. I tried several new weight machines, been to yoga 3 times and today I went to Spin class….that was torture. I really didn’t enjoy it, but I stuck it out the whole hour. Burned a whopping 620 calories and my legs feel like noodles.


I also tried yogurt again this morning. I don’t like yogurt, but I know it’s good for me so I’m trying, again, to like it. I got some with granola to mix in, thinking the texture will help. It wasn’t completely horrible, but I won’t be craving it anytime soon!


I have burned some serious calories this morning and am looking forward to our home made fajitas for dinner tonight.

#30DayHomies Day 26, lots going on!

It’s Day 26 and I have lots to share!

I got 9 miles in this morning and I couldn’t be happier. It was a good run, it was about 45 degrees and it misted on us the entire time but I’ll take that over 28 degrees any day of the week! Ran an average 12 minute pace which is good for me right now. I’m taking things slow on my way back to hopefully avoid injuries.

I finally ordered my Polar Heart rate strap to use with my watch. I was looking for more accurate calorie burn on workouts, especially like Nike workouts at home. I never imagined my calories were off as much as they were today. On a normal 9 mile run, Fitness Pal and the Nike app would usually tell me I burned about 800 calories, check out today’s burn with the heart rate strap!


Yep, that says 1201 calories…the girls and I decided on today’s run that Saturday’s are our new favorite day to eat! I started out good, a nice healthy protein smoothie right after the run.

My average heart rate was 162, there are points on the hills where it was 175-183 bpm.

I have this lovely watch that has a shoe pod you wear for more accurate running. Unfortunately, the shoe pod only fits in Nike+ shoes. Someone mentioned on Facebook that there is a shoe pod holder that fits on your shoelaces. I promptly looked that up and sure enough I found this awesome little gem on Amazon. Of course I ordered it and it came today!


I’m so excited! The shoe pod is supposed to give a more accurate reading of your run but it also works indoors, so when I have to run on the dreadmill it will work with my watch like I was running outside. They come in 8 colors but of course I got purple. You can get one here if you need it!

#30DayHomies Day 25 ~ Running

It’s Friday and we have less than a week left in the month! It’s going by quick.

I am supposed to be in the midst of training for the Cowtown Half on February 24. But my foot has been hurt for a few weeks. I’m good to go now, so hopefully by this time tomorrow I will have completed 11 miles! No matter how many miles I get in tomorrow, it will be better than nothing!

If you aren’t a runner yet or maybe a new runner, I encourage you to get out there and try it. You might find you love it.  It’s not expensive to do (well except for the races!) All you need is some time and a good pair of shoes! Right now I am loving both of the shoes I’m trying out. I will run in the Asics Cumulus in the morning.

Here’s a good Couch to 5k app to get you going!

You’ve heard people say “runner’s high” and I never got it, until I started running. Not just that but my overall stress level, my health, my sanity…all reasons I run! I’ve noticed the last few weeks of not running more than 2-3 miles at a time that I’ve missed it, the long distance running. I think that’s where my happy place is!

#30DayHomies Day 24

It’s day 24 and we have a winner of the ProCompression socks ~ Sarah Wells! You should have an email from me.

Yesterday was What I Ate (and did) Wednesday. Didn’t do it last week, had too much going on. For breakfast I had a protein shake, added immune boost, apparently I need it. What to know what I did? I worked and I coughed all day long. I have never been this sick that I can recall and I’m ready for the germs to be gone!

I had a homemade caesar salad for lunch with grilled chicken.


Has anyone tried these BelVita breakfast biscuits? They aren’t biscuits so that’s kinda misleading, but they are pretty good. I bought them at Costco Saturday after sampling them. They made a pretty good morning snack today. Loaded with good for you stuff!


And since I worked late, and it was basically leftovers for dinner I had chicken and rice. I probably did not eat enough calories today but I just wasn’t feeling it.

I also went to the doctor for my follow up about my foot, and I got released to run! So, now I just have to kick this cough again and I’ll be good to go! Cowtown is in exactly 30 days!!
