I have been looking forward to staying at Live Aqua Cancun for a long time! It’s a client favorite and I was excited to see it for myself. We spent 5 nights and 6 days here. It’s been over 20 years since I have stayed in Cancun. We normally stay North or South of Cancun.
This hotel is an upscale, adults only, all inclusive resort. It’s boutique style but a little larger than you’d think a boutique would be. There are lots of restaurant options and food stations around the hotel.
Live Aqua is located across the street from a mall with shopping, movie theater and restaurant options if you want to venture out.
Aqua Club check in
We checked in at the Aqua Club on the 5th floor, the Aqua Club is an upgrade with some additional amenities included.
The views from the 5th floor are amazing! There are snacks and drinks and plenty of space to sit and hang out, watch TV or work if you need to.
We had ocean view rooms. The hotel offers ocean front which have the best view (some with extended balconies), they also offer garden view rooms.
The rooms have a king or two double beds, they do allow you to choose the bedding when you reserve your room. Not all hotels allow that, I think it’s a great perk for clients! I like to know that I have a king bed. There is a dresser, sitting area, coffee maker and closet with a little more storage.
The bathroom is enclosed with glass but there are blinds for privacy. Live Aqua is great with added touches. This note was on the glass wall and we received towels embroidered with our names. Some guests have beds decorated with special messages. They go above and beyond to make you feel special.
The shower was a large walk in with 2 shower heads. The toilet has a door (not all hotels do) and the whole bathroom has a sliding door as well. This topic comes up often when friends are sharing rooms or clients traveling with kids. Some hotels have open concept bathrooms with little to no privacy.
The hotel has robes to use during your stay. The closet had a beach bag to borrow and flip flops to keep if you wanted them.
The hotel has several pools, all with different temperature water. Live Aqua has an infinity pool overlooking the beach and it was our favorite but also the coldest in my opinion.
There are lots of cabanas and chairs with umbrellas around the pool and on the beach. There is one swim up bar but plenty of wait service around the pool. The pool with the swim up bar is a little secluded and does not connect to the other pools.
Here’s the pool with the swim up bar. This area also has cabanas and chairs with umbrellas.
The chairs around the pool are open to any guests. The cabanas are included with a suite or able to be reserved for a daily fee. I like that they offer this option, my least favorite thing to do is look for pool chairs. And I love a cabana! The cabanas are about $65 per day and you can reserve them in advance. We took advantage of this option for our 4 full days there.
The hotel has bar tenders around the pool area. The service is by far some of the best we’ve had. The cabanas get a bucket of ice with bottled water and a foot massage is included for one guest.
The view from our cabana! The round beds you see have umbrellas and those are open to anyone to use, as available.
The beach at Live Aqua is beautiful! Plenty of sand and chairs. There is bar service on the beach but no food is allowed. During our stay there was very little seaweed in the water.
Seaweed is seasonal and it can vary depending on how well the hotel cleans up the beach. My pictures do not do this beach justice, it’s really beautiful!
There are so many food options, I don’t even know where to begin! During our stay Azur was being renovated but it opened the last morning we were there. They served that menu at the steakhouse for breakfast that week, it was our favorite. We preferred it over the buffet at this hotel.
We had this breakfast burrito several times! And the French toast was really good. We ordered a plate to share one morning, you know, as dessert.
For lunch there are pop up grill options all around the pool with tacos, sausage, burgers, nachos, I’m not even sure what all they had. You can also order food to be delivered to your spot at the pool.
I had lunch at Varenna one day, it’s Italian. I definitely recommend it. They have a pizza oven as well. I ordered pasta and salad and the drink of the day, which was a white wine sangria.
One afternoon they brought a cart around with empanadas. If you are ever at this hotel and you have the option to try these, do it! You will not regret it. We were hoping to have them again but no luck on this trip.
One of our favorite dinner spots was the Mexican Restaurant. Food, service and the margaritas were spot on! There really wasn’t any food we didn’t like but this was a favorite.
The Habanero soup at MB was also a favorite! It’s in a bread bowl with potato chips on top.
We had a great vacation and I’m glad we were all able to get away together. With Ally in college it’s hard to coordinate that time away now.
