January Jumpstart Day 15: Fitness Survey + Pro Compression giveaway

Welcome to day 15! This morning I did 20 minutes of treadmill intervals, arms, wall crawls (you don’t want to know!) and the sauna.

I have been busy with January Jumpstart stuff and completely let this month’s Fitness Survey sneak up. We have just a few questions this month.

  1. What part of your body do you want to work on the most? Definitely the area that needs the most work is my core.  But I want arms with definition. 
  2. Favorite and least favorite part of your workout? Least favorite: core (see above). Most favorite: arms, I love how they are starting to look. 
  3. What is your favorite fitness class to attend? I’ve only attended a few classes. My favorite is probably Nike Training Club and 2nd would be Spin, even though it kicked my booty!
  4. Do you have a favorite smoothie recipe? Yes, at home I use chocolate protein powder with frozen bananas, strawberries, sometimes cherries and PB2. My favorite to buy is the Lean 1 Strawberry at Smoothie King….YUMMY!
  5. Favorite place to run? (trails, track, streets, treadmill, etc) Favorite place is the road. I’m starting to tolerate the treadmill. I really want to try trail running but I’m so scared I’ll get injured then can’t run at all. :-(

I’m so excited Pro Compression is back on board with us this year. They have some great compression socks. I love them! I wear them during long runs but mostly for recovery.     Yesterday, Tuesday, Jan. 14th I posted I ran 4 miles doing speed work; well the day was so beautiful when I got home yesterday afternoon that I decided to run 2 miles…. 2 turned into 3 and I PR’d, one of my fastest 3 miles ever!! So, my total miles ran yesterday was 7

    Today, Wed Jan 15th I got up at 5am and went to the gym. I worked out on the machines concentrating on Abs and Arms; I did my squats holding a 10 lb medicine ball out to get core and leg workout. Then I looked at the time and found 5 minutes to soak in the hot tub, one of my guilty pleasures. Much more fun when someone is with me, but that 5 minute soak felt fabulous!

    The parts of my body I want to work on the most is my abs/core and arms. My kids think my arms are jiggly, so that’s high on my list

    Least favorite part of a workout is being overwhelmed by the machines and deciding which one to use and which ones I know how to use; Favorite part is after I am done, feeling accomplished

    Favorite smoothie: I use chocolate protein powder with water and 1 bananna and blend in the blender until frothy; I was using vanilla protein powder with the bananna and water but ran out and have a ton of chocolate still to use

    Favorite place to run: I love running through Harry Myers, I believe a route we run that I really enjoyed is called Midnight Pass. Least favorite would be Ralph Hall hands down.

    Oh my! Today is so rest day with a lil ab work.. Yesterday about kicked my butt! Thank goodness for my compression pants and sleeves!
    This girl had a massive leg day and 3 mile interval run on the dreadmill! Leg day consisted of 3 sets each of : weighted sqauts, leg press, leg curls, box jumps, calf raises, lunges, wall sits, side kick lunges, burpees.

    Today is a rest day on the legs. So tonight will be my p90x ab workout dvd.

    My new workout this month is the kettle bell squat lift. Love it..

    I love Compression socks, unfortunately I only have one pair….so I would love to have another pair! I did workout today, yet felt quite sluggish because I worked an 8 hour graveyard shift prior to my workout. Because of that I didn’t run, but lifted weights and had a fun workout with a weighted hula hoop. Tomorrow, I’ll run :)

    I did a couple laps on my stairs, but no workout besides that. I have wanted to have a pair of compression stockings, but haven’t had the budget yet.

    Yesterday was a rest day. Tonight I will do Body Pump and Zumba. I Love my compression socks. I don’t like my belly/waist area. My least favorite exercise is lunges, used to love them but my knees are so bad now, that sometimes I can do them, sometimes i can’t, depends on how much I have been running and working out. I do squats instead when I can’t do the lunges. I love any exercises with arms and planks. My favorite workouts are usually BodyPump and Chisel although for the last 3 months I have been doing Team Traing Boot Camp so I miss thoses classes. My favorite fruit smoothie is frozen peaches, unsweetend Almond Milk, spinanch and agave syrup to sweeten sometimes some greek yogurt, If I have it. Taste’s like fresh peach ice cream, although looks yuck. I love running outside if the weather is not to cold or wet. Then I just cant warm up afterwards.

  8. I worked out today for the first time in almost 3 weeks. I dragged my butt to the treadmill to at least get a walk in. I ended up doing a 2:2 run/walk interval for about 40 minutes and felt pretty good. Glad to be getting back to it!! I love my procompression socks!! And I tried to link up, but it’s not working, when i click to link up it says “collection closed”.

  9. I did rebounding today! So far, compression socks dig into my thick calves, but I really like the idea of them! :)

    Ran 3 miles. I usually wear Swiftwick compression socks or Zensah sleeves.

  11. Just got in from the gym…strength training. I love wearing compression socks & sleeves, especially for recovery.

    Day 16: 5 mile run; Legs a little sore from gym workouts I have been doing on the days I am not running. I think it’s only getting me stronger, so I am planning on keeping it up.

    No workout today. Still can barely move from working out two days ago. Got my alarm set for 4am so I can get 4 miles in before work, and then have a 12 mile long run planned for Saturday.

  16. YES…I went to Zumba this evening! Aaaand…I’m currently wearing my compression socks right now and my legs are feeling good!

  21. 6 milen run today along with yoga tonight! I have to wear my compression socks, they help to keep my calves from cramping, and also help me to recover!

  23. Today was a rest day for me! I wear sleeves more than socks, but only because the compression socks I have are too big for me. They were suppose to be a one size fits all.

    I love compression socks. They’re expensive but worth it! Would love another pair! I ran 10 miles today and wore my socks. Ready for another run!

    I’m a little injured from the marathon so no workout today. But I love compression socks–they saved me during the marathon!!

    I ran 4 miles on the treadmill today. I wear compression socks if I’m doing over 10 miles. No new workouts yet this month. I so need to start crosstraining!

  31. Today I worked on the core and stretched a bunch. I wore compression socks yesterday. The family and I ran a 5K yesterday, I did a 12 miler to the race and they met me in the car. I ran the 5K with my youngest son, it was a donut dash and we dressed in costume. Had a great time. I rode in the car home and luckily I did as the winds really picked up.

    I did not workout today. We got 3 inches of snow and were all stuck in the house. But I love to run in compression socks.
