Marathon Training: 8 down, 10 to go!

Week 8 is done! I ran my farthest mileage ever today: 15 miles! It was a little rough. The humidity was insane. I’m still waiting on those temps to drop and stay there. And mu achilles is starting to bother me. I’ve never had issues with it. So, I’ll be stretching and rolling like it’s my job.

Week 8

Training this week:

Sunday: Gym cardio and weights

Monday: 10 minutes at the track

Tuesday: Run 4 miles, 9:28 pace

Wednesday: Run 7 miles, 10:30 pace

Thursday: Run 4 miles, Run/Walk intervals, 10:08 pace

Friday: Rest day

Saturday: Run 15 miles, 10:06 pace! That’s run time. I pause my watch for breaks and we took 2 of them today.

I was checking out the elevation for the marathon course, should I be worried about miles 5-10??? Then check out 20-21….good thing I run hills!

I guess this will be my mantra for the next few months!

I had a really cool blog coaching session this week with Taylor at Pink Heels Pink Truck! You should check her out. Basically I just set some goals, talked about what I wanted to accomplish with this blog and she gave me some tips. One thing she suggested was to make my pictures bigger….ya’ll are about to see me up close! YIKES!

I ran hills for a whopping 10 minutes Monday night. I didn’t have much time and I really wasn’t feeling great. My lungs were seriously burning. Not sure what that was about. But I coughed the rest of the evening.

Tuesday’s run is now 4 miles and I’m ok with that since Wednesday has increased.

15 miles done!

15 miles

I had a little incident this week when a driver got out of his car at 5:30AM to confront me and my friend running. We were running in the road and we run close to the curb so we can jump if needed. We gave him some time and he didn’t move so we did. We probably instigated it a little bit by throwing our arms up in disgust. We got on the sidewalk and continued running only to hear him stop and get out as yell at us. It was the one morning I didn’t have mace and there were only 2 of us. We just kept going. Didn’t even look back. He got in his truck and left. I have never had that happen. It was a little scary, but I think I was mostly mad!

Have you had a confrontation with a driver? What did you do?

Do you run in the road?

Anyone racing this weekend?

Any helpful hints on dealing with achilles issues?

Hope you have a great weekend!
