First off, I traded in the Mizuno’s I bought for the Nike Lunar Glide 4. I was running in the 3’s and loved them, I let a sales person talk me out of them and I regretted it. Loving my new Nike’s! (I’m not sure if the Mizuno’s weren’t fitted properly or if I was in the wrong shoe. I would love to try them again soon, I know tons of runners that love their Mizuno shoes!)
I had a 12 mile training run and a 10k race on the same day, so my training team (yes, I’ve just named them) and I decided to run 6 miles prior to the race. I finished the first 6 at a 10 minute per mile pace, which is what I’ve been working toward. I’m hoping to finish the Healdsburg Half at a 10 minute pace, which would have me finishing about 2 hours and 10 minutes, give or take a minute for a breather. I finished the Patriot Half in 2:19:40 so anything better than that will be an accomplishment!
We got about a 15 minute break before the race started, just enough time to re-fuel. I knew I wanted to beat my previous 10k time of 53:52 and I did, smoked it actually! The clock read 49:33 when I crossed but my “official” time is 50:13, either way that’s an 8 minute mile! And for the overall 12 miles I averaged a 9 minute mile. I could not be happier. It was cold. The race course was a little repetitive, we had to run several streets more than once which can mess with your mojo. It was COLD. I got 1st place in my age group of 30-39 and I came in 2nd overall female. Did I mention it was cold?
